An Ethiopian Princess who was doomed to be sacrificed, for her mother boasted that she was more beautiful than the Nereids – which angered the gods, and she was to be chained to a rock by the sea to await her death – to be devoured by the sea monster Ketos. She was rescued by the hero Perseus whom she later wed.
